Friends Vs Friends: 8 Pro Tips For Beginners
Table of Contents
ToggleThe cute art style of Friends vs Friends can be a bit deceiving at first, since this game is very hard. Here are some tips for players to help them out.
At first glance, Friends vs Friends might look like a game for kids because of the cute animal figures and bright colors. But as soon as that opening movie starts, players quickly find out that this game is much more aggressive and hard than they probably thought it would be.
It’s hard to win regularly in this PvP FPS because most players are already good, so let’s go over some of the best tips we’ve found so far in Friends vs Friends to help you win more often.
Never Stop Moving
First and most importantly, get used to always being on the move for Friends vs Friends. There aren’t many times when shooting at enemies while staying still is better than doing it while jumping around and moving around the map. In this game, it takes a long time to kill someone, and players often trade damage back and forth.
So, moving around a lot will help a lot to make it a little harder for the opponent to always hit their target. Players who have been playing Valorant for a long time might have a hard time at first, but it shouldn’t take too long to get used to.

Save PalPrize Coins Until Level 21
The best tip for someone just starting out in Friends vs Friends is to keep those red PalPrize Coins until level 21. These are the coins that you can use to buy things in the hub area. The money counter is in the top right corner of the screen. At level 4, players get access to their first PalPrize machine. This machine takes 3 Coins and turns them into a random Avatar, Card Back, or Keychain.
But at level 21, players can use the Skins PalPrize Machine to get Skins for their characters in the game. There are no pay-for-skins microtransactions in this game. Aside from dailies and weeklys, it’s not easy to get PalPrize Coins, so players will want to make the most of every one they get.
Get Used To Using Cards Mid-Round
Now that we’re back to game tips, the next big tip for FvF players is to try not to separate the card-playing and FPS parts of the game by accident. When people play the game for the first time for a long time, they often start each round by playing all the cards they want to be in play, and then they ignore the card-building part of the game for the rest of the round.
This is a good plan for a while, since playing cards in this game isn’t too complicated like it is in Magic: The Gathering or something. But players usually do better if they only play one or two cards at the beginning of a round and save their more “situational” cards to play directly against what their opponent has played. For instance, let’s say a person is on the Subway Station map and their opponent is standing still in the tunnel above the tracks and shooting at them from the windows. Instead of trying to hit the small spot where their head is, players can play Big Head to make their opponent to either stay there and take more headshots or come up to them in the lower area.
Play Cards In Order Of Importance From Least To Most
Many Friends vs Friends players just play the cards they want to use as soon as the countdown stops. This is the best time for their opponents to punish them with cards like Mirror Card, Counter Card, or even Barbed Card.
The good news is that you can “counter the counter” by playing the least useful card first. For example, if a person is going to use Garbage Day, Steel Bullets, and Poison, they should probably play the cards in the order Garbage Day, Poison, and Steel Bullets. So, if a Counter Card is used, it will only stop Garbage Day. If a Mirror Card is used, it will only copy Poison, and Steel Bullets can be used safely.
Try & Synergize With Teammates As Much As Possible
In FvF, the difference between 1v1 and 2v2 is much bigger than most people would think. When you add two more hands of cards, you can actually do a lot of different things with them.
For example, each card can only be added to a Deck once, but if there are two players, that means that cards that are generally only played once per game can now be played twice. And most cards can have the same affect when they are used more than once. This means that if two Health Downs are played in the same round and aren’t stopped, 70 HP are quickly “deleted” from both opponents. So, try to work together with your friends as much as possible. This can be hard since Backrooms game doesn’t have an in-game chat system yet, but a pop-up will still appear when your allies play cards.
Adjust Card Plays & Playstyle To The Situation
Just because Bullet Time + Albatross 21 works well in the Subway Station Map doesn’t mean that this Weapon + Buff mix will work just as well against different opponents on a different map.
Even though it may seem clear, a lot of players keep trying the same strategies over and over in different situations and then don’t understand why they aren’t working. Depending on the enemy characters and maps, you may need to change the cards you play and the methods you use. For example, players don’t have to burn Titan early just to get a small edge. Instead, they can save it for when they get caught in a straightaway and have to take a lot of damage they can’t avoid. Then, if they play Titan, their opponent feels stuck all of a sudden, and the whole game changes.
Every Playstyle Has A Character To Match It
Let’s talk about the people in Friends vs Friends next. When the game comes out, you can play as one of 10 animal characters that look like mascots. Each one has its own unique passive powers. Each of these passives tends to work well with certain skills, weaknesses, or even just the way most players like to play in general. Here are some examples
- Moose Salto and Haru is a great choice for players who like movement mechanics or just want to be able to get to any part of a map at any time.
- Spike Remington and Stevie Gull are both great choices for players who care most about how much damage they do.
- DJ Newton and Myk Raver are two more great picks for players who aren’t sure how good they are at aiming.
- Donnie B and Little Lars are safe picks for players who get caught out in the open too often or who run away from bombs too late.
Basically, there’s a character that works well with almost every type of player you can think of. Try out all of them as you unlock them to see which one feels the most natural.
Learn The Card Art ASAP
And finally, let’s talk about card recognition, which is another important tip for playing Friends vs Friends. At the time I’m writing this, there are over 65 different cards to collect in this game, so it can be hard to tell them apart at a glance when they’re being played.
But being able to tell that the opponent just played a Heartless Joker Card or Tin Man Buff Card just by seeing the card art pop up on a player’s peripherals can make a huge difference in the middle of the game. So, try to learn and remember the art on the cards as quickly as possible, at least for the ones that are played most often. When it comes to making decisions in the moment, players who do this will have a pretty big edge over players who don’t.
